In high production environments such as the Automotive industry, speed and reliability in the delivery of parts is paramount. NDT can bring benefits of cost reduction to the production environment as it eliminates waste that is created from destructive methods of testing ie tear downs. Common applications for ultrasonic based NDT are spot weld analysis, paint thickness measurement and the NDT of castings. With the introduction of lighter and more advanced materials inspection techniques derived from the aerospace sector are now being implemented for testing glued and bonded joints.

The Sitescan D20+ is an ideal flaw detector for spot weld anlaysis due to it's high definition screen and easy storage of the A-Scan results, to refer to for future analysis.  One hand operation of the D20+ provides the end user with great flexibility and portability within the testing and production environment.

Paint Thickness measurement is easily assessed using the Sonacoat P which provides fast, non-destructive, accurate coating measurements on steel and non-ferrous metals. It is not only paintwork thickness and other coatings you can measure. You can also obtain valuable information concerning the coating structure, such as paint top coats or body fillers.

New joining and bonding techniques that are now being developed require a different inspection approach.  The best results are acheived using C-Scan technology.  The Rapidscan 2, combined with custom transducers, is ideal for checking the quality and quantity of glue lines.
