As the use of composite materials in the aerospace and aircraft manufacturing sector increases so does the need for inspection and testing of these more advanced materials, as well as the traditional construction metallic materials.

The nature of failure in composites structures is regarded as being more complex to detect and interpret, as a small defect on the surface can conceal a much larger flaw beneath. The need to implement testing procedures and systems for such materials is a growing and challenging sector within the Aerospace market.

Standard Ultrasonic Flaw detectors are also often used for inspection of spars, landing gear and other parts. It is frequently necessary to find very small defects, and high resolution instruments such as the Masterscan 350 are often specified.

For through transmission testing techniques the unqiue Dryscan 410D has been specifcally developed to achieve outstanding results.  The Dryscan 410D is wdiely used in the inspection of attentuative materials such as GRP and honeycomb core parts.
