Carbon Composites

As with GRP composites, CFRP falls into two categories - Consolidated material and Honeycomb material and this "category" makes a big difference between how they need to be inspected. Carbon Composites are usually carbon fibre reinforced plastic (CFRP) and are high value low volume production materials, often used in aerospace applications.

The Rapidscan 2 and Rapidscan 3D have been specifically developed to inspect components made from these advanced materials.  The Rapidscan provides flexibility to the manufacturing process, being easily configured to test low volume complex shape parts without the significant investment of automated scanning. The low water requirement for coupling allows inspection of parts anywhere, even when water damage is a concern.

For honeycomb parts the Rapidscan can be used for ensuring good bond between the core and skin, whilst the Dryscan 410D can be used in through transmission to detect core damage and bonding.
