An essential part of today's railway network and rolling stock operations is the use of Non Destructive Testing techniques to assess the condition of a range of safety critical assets. The use of Ultraonsic Flaw Detectors and probes for axle or wheel inspection is a common process used to detect potentially dangerous fatigue cracks, fractures or corrosion.

 

When testing railways axles -  high power and low noise are essential. The Powerscan 450P's high power 450 Volt square wave pulser and ultra low noise amplifier achieve an excellent signal to noise ratio. This class leading performance enables testing of very attenuative or large components. The 20 metre range and calibrated delay makes the testing of axles extremely accurate, whilst the ability to recall 100 previous waveforms allows quick evaluation of defect growth.

The new Phased Array Flaw detector, the Veo, is also more than capable of producing the power and results required when testing in this field.
