It reduces the cost.

It offers a number of inventory models that are readily available, avoiding production delays of several weeks or months

It allows customers to invest in search units without being tied to a particular instrument vendor.

It standardizes the footprint for external wedge mounting, thereby simplifying the wedge supply and adaptation to scanners.

It simplifies instrument setup and reduces errors as all probes come with reference configuration files.
The DAAH probes come in two versions; with external or integral wedges. For maximum versatility, we offer bare arrays for external wedge mounting. Different wedges can be used for different wave modes and contour diameters. We also offer integral wedges for shear wave (SW) or longitudinal wave (LW). All integrated wedges are embedded in a stainless steel frame and feature damping material. All wedges, external or integral, can be ordered with a standard or custom contour. Of course, all heads mate to the same cable adaptor as its socket remains the same.
Sonatest is also addressing another big issue. Over the years, it has always been difficult for the consumer to find affordable and quality probes, as if those two goals were doomed to be incompatible. After many years of research and development, we have found a way to design and build high-quality arrays rugged enough for NDT field work but at a price that is very competitive. The sensitivity, pulse compression and element uniformity are among the best found on the market. The key to our approach is quality-assurance.
Each DAAH probe comes with a comprehensive booklet containing all you need to know about your array specifications, performance and instructions. We are especially proud to be the first to include imaging examples on industry standard blocks such as IIW and AWS, to give you a better understanding of how the probe performs.
We of course supply the electro-acoustic characterization for all the elements of the array with complete statistical information.
Sonatest probes were designed to be rugged. Looking at the harsh environment of typical NDT jobs, we aimed at IP66 protection. This means that our probes are protected against fine dust and high-pressure water jets. Our patented concept allows the probe head to mate with the socket with clockwork precision, thanks to the most precise CNC machining process. Each cable adaptor passes numerous tests to make sure that it’s ready for harsh NDT environment.
