TOFD Transducers
One of the major applications of TOFD is the ultrasonic examination of welds after final heat treatment and/or hydraulic testing, to verfiy the absence of cracks not detectable by radiography and to prove conformity with prior ultrasonic manual examination carried out during construction.

TOFD Transducers Overview
Following on from this is the application of monitoring welds during the service life of components. Stored data acquired from initial examinations, taken during the final stages of construction, can be compared with the new in-service data inspection.
A full range of TOFD transducers are offered by Sonatest, in partnership with Phoenix Inspection Systems, and are compatible with Scanning frames and multi purpose scanners that are also available. They are available with integral or demountable wedges and in standard ceramic or piezocomposite materials.
